Daniela Banci, Mnemosyne and the Muses Necklace, 2023, sterling silver, 750 rose gold, Ø 28 cm

The necklace pays homage to music, both through mythology (the Muses were Mnemosyne and Zeus' daughters, they presided over the Arts including song and music) and through harmonious  shapes enhanced by skilfully modelled materials. The work is made up of two rigid jointed necklaces on which 9 circular silver and rose gold plates are evenly spaced out, symbolising the Muses. A silver bar is soldered underneath as an element that dynamises the composition. On it, engraved in Greek letters, is the name Mnemosyne, the Muses' mother and the personification of Memory.
