Daniela Banci, Shipwrecks Without Spectators Necklace, 2023, sterling silver, l 84 cm

The necklace is composed of five jointed silver plates that unfold like a tape measure; figures of men and women are soldered onto the plates - they travel along new roads, they migrate troubled and  poor, they look for escape routes across the sea, carrying bags of fortune. Besides physical distance, the tape measure gauges the capacity for developing models of multicultural cohabitation in Europe, where the balance between dialogue and conflict must become a  priority for the identities that compose it.
